Our Kids Know More Than We Think

Our Kids Know More Than We Think

We adopted A.J. at 11 days old, and it was my wife’s and my goal to use “adoption language” easily and freely, without hesitation, so that A.J. never feels like it is a taboo subject. Last Saturday, 6-year old A.J. and I had a nice Father-Son day where we shared a movie (Escape From Planet […]

Why does Santa hate Jewish kids?

Why does Santa hate Jewish kids?

I saw this tongue-in-cheek question posted by one of my Jewish Facebook friends, and it inspired these thoughts… “Why does Santa hate Jewish kids?” I grew up a secular Jew, son of a Jewish Mom and agnostic Dad (who was an altar boy at an Anglican church as a kid). We celebrated Christmas every year, […]

The votes are in…

And, the winner of the “cover contest” is this: Great choice. As for my personal preference (and what was planned before this went to vote)… it was this one, which was the second place winner: The photo that the majority of you picked was actually our selection for the back cover. This second picture will […]

My First Week As Soccer Coach

My First Week As Soccer Coach

I just started my first week as AYSO soccer coach. Here are my thoughts after the first week. 1) I realized how much effort comes along with the planning, organizing, and actually practicing with young kids. So, I have gained a newfound appreciation for the work my parents did as coaches, and – particularly – […]

You choose the album cover!

You choose the album cover!

Thanks to my personal, professional photographer (i.e., my wife), we have a good number of photos for my upcoming worship CD, “The Start Of A New Life.” I’m not sure which one will work for the cover, so I’m opening it up to you to help me decide. Vote once, and post your reason why […]

Black and White Cookie Recipe

Black and White Cookie Recipe

When I was a kid, one of my favorite things in the world was the Black and White cookie from Brown’s Bakery in North Hollywood, CA. Sadly, that place is no longer around… and I spent a few years missing the cookie… until I discovered a recipe in the now-defunct Gourmet magazine. The recipe is […]

A few things today…

A few things today…

First, I played around with Premiere Elements 10 today, briefly… particularly the “crop” function to get some split screen stuff. Subject matter: a video I have wanted to do for awhile on how folks on YouTube create “EXPOSED” videos against each other, misusing the term (as the stuff they are exposing is already exposed). Second, […]

In May, 2005, Rob was a secular, Jewish, thirty-something, Los Angeles, personal injury attorney whose idea of getting up early on a Sunday was getting up for the third quarter of the first televised, NFL games.

Thirsting on the idea of playing in a band for the first time in a decade, Rob finally accepted his neighbor's request to get up at seven-in-the-morning on Sundays in order to participate.

Eleven months later, his world was turned upside down by Jesus. Instantly, he began leading songs on the worship team and, today, he now leads that same LIFEhouse worship team in which he was initially invited to join as a non-believer.

God is cool like that.
